Sit Stay Fetch: My Review of A Popular Dog Training Ebook and Multi-Media Package

Sit Stay Fetch is a popular downloadable dog training information package. Many people's dog training problems have been solved by it, as you can see at its website: Sit Stay Fetch

And no doubt about it, it's widely popular online. It turns up everywhere. But I wondered... Would it be something I could recommend to you, my reader? I'm a former librarian with pretty demanding standards for publications.

Sit Stay Fetch ebook coverTo get right to the point: Sit Stay Fetch is a very nicely done dog training package; you get a lot for your money. It turned out not to be my cup of tea because...

I am of the school of thought that you can train a dog by using methods that work on other animals too, such as clicker training and other positive reinforcement methods. Sit Stay Fetch is squarely in the school of thought that you need to be alpha over your dog. The two approaches are more like different angles on the subject of dog training than total opposites. If you like or are open to the alpha approach, then Sit Stay Fetch might be your cup of tea. Clicking on the image takes you to the description of it on the author's website.

When I first downloaded it, I was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer volume of what I had just acquired. Besides  the main ebook titled Sit Stay Fetch, I now had nine audio files and eight videos. Not to mention several bonus ebooks.

But not to worry, it's all very well-organized. The detailed Table of Contents is several pages long...gee, I sound like a librarian saying that, don't I? But what I liked about that is how easy it is to get an overview of what is covered or find a topic you are thinking about. (I couldn't think of any dog problems that aren't covered.) Then, on Page 12, there's a handy chart that shows you how all the sections relate.

If you'd like to see what all is in the ebook, click here for my Squidoo review of Sit Stay Fetch, where I list all the modules.

When you read Sit Stay Fetch, the how-to information alternates with interesting stories of how someone solved the canine problem under discussion. I liked this because it made the reading flow very smoothly but also because I think we humans learn well from stories.

The sound files are basically the different chapters. I put one on my portable mp3 player and listened to it the other morning while exercising. I had already read the chapter, so I didn't think I'd learn much, but I was surprised. We take things in differently through our ears, and I picked up several points that I hadn't noticed when reading. The videos fill out various topics. Both adults and children would like them, I imagine.

Rosana's Ramblings:

I don't always agree with what Daniel Stevenson says in Sit Stay Fetch, but I do respect him...

As I read Sit Stay Fetch, sometimes I muttered to myself that I didn't know if I agreed with that, usually when he talked about the importance of being alpha in regard to your dog. (This is a way of thinking that I don't use myself.) I managed to pick up a number of very useful training ideas from Sit Stay Fetch despite having a different slant on that issue.

If you like to learn from a variety of media formats, this package has them all. This multi-media dog training course comes with several bonus ebooks, including an excellent one called The Ultimate House Training Guide. And one special bonus is an email consultation with Daniel or his team on a dog behavior problem you have. Very useful! He quotes some of these consultations on his site and they are quite interesting.

I also liked that you can get the package as a gift for someone else. Details are near the bottom of his page.

You can also get it mailed to you in physical form rather than ebook.

If you are curious, I suggest that you go take a look at Daniel Stevenson's website. I'm sure you'll get a sense of whether you and his ebook package are on similar wavelengths. If so, it's likely to be extremely useful.
