Meeting a Dog

Jul 28th, 2007 | By Rosana Hart | Category: Dogs!

We’ve just gotten back home from a two-month road trip around the U.S. LarryDog was well cared for here at home and he went wild when we arrived, but I want to tell a different story here.

We had about a week’s vacation in the Ozarks, lovely ancient mountains. We sometimes look at real estate when we travel, and one day we drove out to a cute little three-acre ranch in the gently rolling hills. The stone farmhouse was unoccupied so we were surprised when we got out of the car:

A young dog greeted us, tail wagging.

When I looked at him, he sat, as if to show me what a good dog he was. He was immensely delighted to see us and accompanied us, more or less, as we walked around the property. We surmised that he was from a house nearby, as he wasn’t begging or seeming neglected. Just very friendly.

Ah, nothing like a bit of unconditional love to brighten the day!
