Wonderful post! There are so many options out there for pet owners in financial trouble. I personally would never consider giving up my dog, he is part of me, he is my best friend, my one companion I can always count on. I will make what ever sacrifice I need to for us to survive as one. Thanks for writing a post on a very important topic in today's turbulent times.

I just really love this article because it is so true.
ASK FOR HELP.
I find people at Dog Parks are such good resources. They are true dog lovers and I bet you could work something out with someone temporarily. I recently had to rent out my bedroom and sleep on a Futon in the living room (with my dogs next to me of course) just to have enough to pay the rent. And I no longer care because I am so grateful to have the extra income, it relieved so much stress.

I knew of a guy with two dogs who advertised on Craig's list that he would be willing to sleep in the garage or in a tent if someone would let him bring his dogs and he would pay rent for the priveledge. He found a room to rent with dogs.

Just put your story out there, ASK FOR HELP, and let people know you will go out of your way for these pets, and then keep your promise. I beg of you to PLEASE do not give them up, they will be heartbroken, they are innocent, they can't help nor understand. AND I know in my area landlords are being a little more lenient because of the economy. Just offer an extra deposit or find another dog owner looking for a place and try renting together. There are alot of families that are doubling up. Maybe some of your readers might think about offering a room to rent to help out fellow fur-ball owners.
