Puppy Bites

There is no getting around it: puppies have very sharp teeth and it hurts when they nip you. Here’s a short audio program, just under 4 minutes, where I talk about puppy bites and people, specially children.

If you would rather read than listen — or want to do both — this audio is based loosely on this page of my website: Puppy bites and people.

By far the best resource that I know of for really mastering puppy biting — and puppy socialization — is the classic DVD Sirius Puppy Training, with the great dog trainer Dr. Ian Dunbar.I am happy to say that hundred of copies have been sold through my website… I think it’s the best-seller from here, and I think it is that important!

Teach Your Young Puppy to Sit

Here’s a little video I made on a simple method for teaching a very young puppy to sit.

Before You Let Your Dog Off Leash

Off-leash activities with our dogs are great, but for safety’s sake, the dog needs to know to come when you call.

Training a dog to come when called isn’t all that hard to do, but training a dog to come reliably is another story. Luckily for our dogs, dog trainer Leslie Nelson has come up with a method that really works. I talk a little about it in this short talk, and further down the page I link to it.

If you would rather read than listen — or want to do both — this audio is based loosely on this page of my website:  the Recall.

And if you would like to download this audio to listen to on an mp3 player, for example, here is the direct link to it. Just right-click or the Mac equivalent to save it to your computer.

Leslie Nelson has created both a DVD and a booklet that explain her method. Here is the DVD at Dogwise… it has been out of stock at Amazon:
