I’m a big fan of crate training, but not for all dogs. That link takes you to a long page I wrote about the main website about crate training, how to do it, and when not to. But I don’t talk about clicker training there. So as I’ve been reading Clickertraining: the 4 Secrets of Becoming a Supertrainer recently, I noticed that they have a chapter on crate training. Back to Westminster for a bit: streaming video of individual breed judging is available on the Westminster site within hours of the events taking place. There will be over 2500 dogs this year, broken down into the usual seven groups; Hound, Terrier, Non-Sporting, Herding, Sporting, Working and Toy.
I’m not all that much into showing dogs, have never done it, though I have gone to quite a few dog shows… when they were easy to get to. What I love about watching dog shows is, well, the dogs! Their interactions with people, their well-mannered closeness to other dogs of many species. Read the rest of this entry

Secrets to Dog Training is the new name of the popular Sit Stay Fetch ebook, by Daniel Stevenson. I reviewed Sit Stay Fetch before I had this blog, on my main site… that link takes you to my review.
Sit Stay Fetch… oops, I mean Secrets to Dog Training… may be the best-selling dog training ebook on the internet. And with good reason: Read the rest of this entry
