Living with Kids and Dogs without Losing your Mind
Here’s a great book if you have kids and dogs, or if you have one and are considering getting the other! Since young children get bitten by their family dogs at an amazing rate — the book points out that half of all children under 14 have been bitten by a dog — if you are going to have both, it will take some managing of the situation. Living with Kids and Dogs . . . Without Losing Your Mind: A Parent’s Guide to Controlling the Chaos is a great tool to help you out.
Colleen Pelar, the author, has been rasing kids and dogs since 1991. Those initials after her name mean that she is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer, and that is no small feat.
The paperback is available at Amazon by clicking on the image. They call it volume 2 but it’s the second edition.
To read more on this topic without getting a book, see doggonesafe.com, a site run by Joan Orr. She goes into something every child should know, a way of acting if a dog is threatening. That’s called “Be a Tree.”
